Due to COVID-19, at church Sunday services and meetings have moved online until further notice.
PAUSING
Find a quiet place where you can be alone.  Take a few seconds or minutes to pause and be still; to breathe slowly, and to re-center any scattered thoughts or desires onto the presence of God.

PRAYING
Heavenly Father, I pray that my heart will always be focused on the gift of prayer.  Help me believe that Jesus has indeed begun and completed all aspects of my story.  Give me peace in knowing that He has completed the entire work of redemption in my life.

ENCOUNTERING HIS WORD
"God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress." - Psalm 46:1-7

What would the Psalmist say if he read the news headlines today?  Uproaring nations, kingdoms on the verge of fall, earthquakes and other natural disasters.  In the midst of all the instability, God is our refuge and our fortress.  A very present help in trouble.  Wherever there is trouble, God is right there on the front lines, in the middle of it all.  Eugene Peterson paraphrases it this way: "God is a safe place to hide."  Let's let that sink in for a little bit.

Remember who He is and who we get to be because of Him.
We are not afraid.
We are protected.
We are strong.
We are hidden in Him.

REFLECTING AND PRAYING
Take a moment and think about some disaster and situation that is front page news right now
  • Pray that God would truly be in the midst of it, battling against the evil and death.
  • Believe and declare that God's love and power will one day rule over it and make all things new.

GODS PROMISE
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.." - Psalm 18:2
