PAUSING
You may need some headphones for today's prayer time. Listen to the above song as much as you'd like and prayerfully allow the words to invite you to stillness before God. Re-center any scattered thoughts or desires onto His loving presence.
PRAYING
Holy Spirit, breathe new life into my story. Expand my heart and my imagination. Stir up my longing and desire for You. Draw me close to You that we may enjoy each other.
ENCOUNTERING HIS WORD
"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—
for your love is more delightful than wine.
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;
your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder the young women love you!
Take me away with you—let us hurry!
Let the king bring me into his chambers.
We rejoice and delight in you;
we will praise your love more than wine.
How right they are to adore you! - Song of Solomon 1:2-4 (NIV)
There's a small book in the Bible tucked in between the Psalms and Proverbs called Song of Songs or Song of Solomon. It's a book that doesn't get a lot of read time because the language might be uncomfortable for some of us. The book is full of passionate poetry and revelations of romance. Some theologians see this book as a love song that describes the love between Jesus and His Church. While it's different from any other book in the Bible, the idea is powerful. God is the bridegroom and His people are the object of His affection.
Here is a passage that describes the bride's deep yearning. She passionately desires to experience His affection and be brought into His presence. Can you remember your first few days after committing your life to following Christ? Do you remember that excitement and passion? Has your love waned over time? Have your cravings for God and your fondness for Him diminished or become routine?
REFLECTING AND PRAYING
“My people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me,
the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water." - Jeremiah 2:13
GODS PROMISE
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." - Jeremiah 29:13

- If in anyway, you have abandoned your first love (Rev 2:4), let God know that you're sorry, and ask Him to stir up holy hunger. Ask for the Spirit to draw you close to Jesus again.
- Pray for the beloved bride of Jesus Christ. Ask God to "kiss" the Church of Jesus Christ awake. If our hearts are dull, to sharpen them with holy longing.
GODS PROMISE
