Due to COVID-19, at church Sunday services and meetings have moved online until further notice.
PAUSING
Find a quiet place where you can be alone.  Take a few seconds or minutes to pause and be still; to breathe deeply, and to re-center any scattered thoughts or desires onto the presence of God.

PRAYING
Heavenly Father, you invite me into your family.  As we did at your Son's table yesterday, we continue to savor Your promise for life.  Help me receive all the nourishment You have for me today.

ENCOUNTERING HIS WORD
"The Lord said to Moses, “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’”
That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor. When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.
Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat."- Exodus 16:11-15

Listening to Simon's testimony got me thinking about God's sovereignty.  He does what He wants when He wants how He wants.  While I may long for signs, blessings, success, and comfort, God may take me to uncomfortable places and meet my needs in ways I would not choose - but He does meet them.  Like the Israelites, I am called to learn that God promises to take care of my needs, not my wants.  Hebron, can you trust that the God who has saves you from your sin is also the God who works for your good - even if your life does not look as you expect?

It seems incredible that the people who had witnessed so many God miracles could start to complain so quickly.  Then we remember how easily we give in to negative attitudes when things don't go our way.  Thankfully, even when we are at our worst,  God is generous with his love.  Even when we find difficulty trusting God, He provides.

REFLECTING AND PRAYING
Take inventory of what your needs, hopes, and fears are in your current season.  Then ask yourself: do I trust God enough to say the prayer, "Your will be done"?

  • Pray that God would show you that He cares for you through all of life's ups and downs.

GODS PROMISE
"Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, 'children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.'  Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky." - Philippians 2:14-16
